This week in Michigan football history with the Professor Greg Dooley. Today we rewind to 1969, a special but pivotal year in Michigan football history. It was that year that we welcomed Glenn Edwards Schembecher Jr. Soon to be known to fans in Ann Arbor and nationwide as simply BO. On this day, exactly 56 years ago, a young, untested coach with a weird last name and Buckeye roots stepped onto the Michigan sideline for the first time. Hired by athletic director Don Canham from Miami of Ohio, BO was a bold choice. The first true outsider to lead the Wolverines since Fritz Chrysler arrived from Princeton over three decades prior.
